The home boot dryer project

Manufacturer info

Williams makes a great boot dryer. Mine's about 7 years old now, and I've had no issues with it at all. They also have excellent customer services. The company makes boot dryers designed for ski-resorts. The boot dryers work by moving room temperature air from the underside of the unit via a motor with a fan attached to it up through the two tubes. No heat is involved. They make many different units depending mostly on how many pairs of booties you need to get dried at the same time.

I have the model A1 - it handles one-pair of boots. It's really engineered to fit into an employee ski-locker.

I decided that I wanted mine to be free-standing. The unit itself does not work too well just sitting on the floor, so I built a stand for it out of a square piece of laminated wood and some rectangular pieces of wood. The unit can now handle anything from lightweight paddling booties up to full on heavy ski-boots.

Drying time is "over-night"...probably about 12 hours or so.
